ConneXion Groups
Since we will not be able to meet in person for worship and fellowship at church these next two weeks at least, Pastor Sente wanted me to pass along his and the Elders' recommendations and hopes for our ConneXion groups.
Their vision during this season is for our ConneXion groups to become like small home churches. Safe places where we (and bring a guest?) can in small groups still connect in person with one another for mutual encouragement and hospitality, and perhaps: worship singing, study in the Word, communion, and the offering of tithes. For those open to it, perhaps even meeting once a week, instead of the usual every other week or so, at least until this pandemic clears up.
They have opened up the opportunity for our groups to meet in the IBCF church sanctuary, if your group chooses to do so - 2 groups at the same time. The facility will be available Mondays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sunday mornings for groups to meet. It should be possible in this locale to maintain the six-foot distance between each person – one group in the corner near the kitchen, one group in the far corner by the door to Pastor’s office. If your group would like to meet at the church, please see me to schedule and make arrangements.
If someone is sick, they should not, of course, attend the group gathering until given the all clear or they recover completely. Meanwhile, though, the others in the group might come up with ways to safely help and encourage the afflicted. We can pray for and take care of each other on a more personal level.*
*Note: In the next week or so our ConneXion group leaders will be given a list of resources available through the church to help meet some of the needs that might come up.
If gathering in person is just not workable for your group, many things can be done via the internet – Skype, FaceTime, Zoom.com, simple chats done through Facebook messaging. Please consider these.
We are encouraged in Hebrews 10:23-25:
Let us hold resolutely to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful.
And let us consider how to spur one another on to love and good deeds.
Let us not neglect meeting together, as some have made a habit,
but let us encourage one another, and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
Please pray about and discuss these possibilities among yourselves in your group. Share with those among you who may not have internet email access.
If you do not have a group yet, please contact a leader near you from the list below:
